Pyrus pyrifolia 'Korean Giant'
Also called Dan Bae or Olympic, Korean Giant is a vigorous, winter-hardy tree that produces at a young age and bears a heavy crop of large, round, olive-green fruit that can weigh up to a pound each! The fruit can be kept in cold storage until March. This highly touted pear blooms early in the season and ripens in mid-October. It is very crisp and juicy with a high sugar content.
Does well in most of the nation but can ripen too late in the coolest maritime summer climates. Considered reliably fireblight resistant!
