Pub Quizzes: Trivia for Smart People was written by Dr. Andy Jones, your Quizmaster. Dr. Andy Jones is the quizmaster for de Vere’s Irish Pub in Davis, California. He has worked as a quizmaster since 2007, and was a regular pub quiz participant in Sacramento for many years before that. Counting his work creating quizzes for fundraisers, educational gatherings, corporate events, and his weekly pub quiz, Dr. Andy has written over 15,000 pub quiz questions, 1,000 of which are found in this book. Dr. Andy is also a poet, academic technology associate director for Academic Technology Services at UC Davis, radio talk show host, storyteller, and public speaker. Since 1990, Andy has taught writing, literature, and film classes at the University of California, Davis, where the Associated Students of UC Davis named him Educator of the Year in 2006. Since the year 2000, Dr. Andy has hosted the public affairs and interview program Dr. Andy's Poetry and Technology Hour on radio station KDVS, heard throughout the Sacramento valley. His guests have included Sherman Alexie, Margaret Atwood, T.C. Boyle, Michael McClure, Ralph Nader, Gary Snyder, and Quincy Troupe, among thousands of others. The Poet Laureate of Davis, Andy coordinates and hosts the Poetry Night Reading Series on first and third Thursdays of the month at the John Natsoulas Gallery in Davis. A longtime advocate for the arts, Andy is the chair of the Davis Cultural Arts and Entertainment Committee. Andy regularly publishes essays in The Sacramento Bee and The Davis Enterprise. Combining poetry, painting, audience participation and song, Andy’s experimental play, Ephemera, premiered in December, 2002. His most recent unpublished poetry book, 25, was a 25th wedding anniversary gift presented to his wife, Kate.
